ÖRN to BS in NursingThe online degree program provides registered nurses with the academic credentials they need to stay relevant and positions them to advance in the field. Through the flexibility of online study, students in this program build on prior knowledge gained in undergraduate studies and examine pressing issues related to today's changing global health environment. The program is designed to help students develop intellectual curiosity and an inquiring mind, essential for professional development.

The RN to BS in Nursing program prepares licensed nurses to assume leadership roles in critical care, community and long-term care. Students gain the knowledge needed to meet the challenges of the evolving healthcare system, as well as the knowledge and experience needed to progress to graduate school and advanced nursing practice.

Eligible students enrolled in the Queensborough Community College AAS Nursing program have the opportunity to seamlessly transition into the BS in Nursing program at CUNY SPS. Students interested in this program canlearn more here.

Articulation Agreements are formal agreements between CUNY SPS and two-year colleges and universities that allow students to easily transfer the maximum number of credits into our RN-to-BS program in Nursing from institutions with which we have an established transfer process.

ÖAmerican Education Council(ACE) is aNational College Credit Referral Service(NCCR) evaluated college-level training programs, military, government and public sector qualifications and licenses that may be eligible for college credit at CUNY's School of Professional Studies.
CUNY SPS also provides credit for currently audited licenses and certifications in Health Information Management, IT, Project Management, Real Estate, Business, and Paramedic.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for admission to the RN to BS in Nursing program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Associate's degree in nursing from the City University of New York or a regionally or nationally accredited non-CUNY lending institution with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Currently licensed in New York State as a Registered Professional Nurse or eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination - RN (NCLEX-RN) - in New York State. Students who do not currently hold an RN license may apply to the pending-licensing program in the final semester of their pre-licensing program. Unlicensed students who meet the eligibility criteria are admitted on a case-by-case basis and must earn their RN license prior to beginning their second semester in the program.
- Nurses with a nursing degree from a non-accredited institution may also apply. Graduate candidates receive 36 credits toward their nursing education upon passing the NCLEX-RN and holding a NYS RN license to practice, and must complete the nursing program and general education courses to receive the BS in nursing.
- All University policies regarding skills and proficiency tests, grades, credit transfer and course completion apply.
The online application requires students to complete a personal essay that helps us understand their educational goals and readiness to return to college.

To apply for the RN to BS in Nursing program, students must submit documentation from one of the following categories:
- American citizenship
- permanent residence
- Granted asylum, refugee status, temporary protected status, deportation deferred, forced departure deferred, U.S. government status deferred, child arrival action deferred (DACA), or permanent residency in the United States under the color of the law (PRUCOL)
*Foreign students can enroll in the courses completely online. However, our online programs do not qualify for student visas.

Dr. Kathleen Cervasio, Associate Professor of Nursing, worked with Dr. Marie Charles of Pace University in the research study "Attitudes of Registered Nurses Caring for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in an Acute Care Setting: A Mixed Method Study". The article was published in the SCIREA Journal of Clinical Medicine.

Dr. Kathleen Marsala-Cervasio, Associate Professor of Nursing Programs at CUNY SPS, published the article "An Integrative Review of the Attitudes of Acute Care Nurses Towards Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities" in the International Journal of Nursing and Health Care Science. Dr. Marsala-Cervasio co-wrote the piece with Marie Lourdes Charles, an assistant professor at Pace University's Lienhard School of Nursing.
